    Section 2 Financial Intelligence Solutions, LLC Announces Debut of Threat Finance Academy, LLC

Washington, D.C. – 09/14/2020 – Section 2 Financial Intelligence Solutions, LLC (referred to as “Section 2” or “S2”) announced the debut of it’s new Threat Finance Academy. (referred to as “TFA”). S2 has named Suzanne Lynch and Robert Bacon as Directors to lead the new program.   

TFA Background

Threat Finance Academy (TFA) will offer cross-functional training, professional development, and certifications for financial crime professionals in the pubic and private sector industries, to include:

  • Financial Services Industry: compliance (Risk, Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Fraud, Know Your Customer (KYC), Vendor Vetting, Sanctions, Counter the Financing of Terrorism (CFT), and legal professionals.
  • Public Sector: Federal, State and Local law enforcement, Prosecutors Offices, Intelligence Community (IC) members, military, diplomatic, export, and financial agencies.

TFA will provide solutions designed to standardize and professionalize the financial crimes investigation field at the practitioner’s level, offering training and professional certifications. These course offerings are designed to help investigators identify, investigate, characterize, escalate, and develop corporate and criminal case investigations related to organized crime. Examples of the types of case development include criminal trafficking, fraud, sanctions and sanctions evasion, terrorism financing, corruption, and white-collar crime.  This program will offer skills training for both new and seasoned investigators. 

 

TFA Leadership

Suzanne Lynch has been announced as a Threat Finance Academy Director.  Ms. Lynch is a Professor of Economic Crime at Utica College, where she developed financial crime focused Bachelor and Master degree programs and courses.  Ms. Lynch is also a veteran of financial services and financial crime risk mitigation with experience in cross-functional global fraud detection and investigations management positions at market leaders such as MasterCard Worldwide, Goldman Sachs, and Comerica Bank.  She has worked extensively with the U.S. government inter-agency community on complex financial crime matters and training solutions.

Robert Bacon has been announced as a Threat Finance Academy Director.  Mr. Bacon is a retired United States Army First Sergeant and Police Special Operations Commander from Costa Rica.  Mr. Bacon is a seasoned expert in Counter Threat Finance (CTF), with public sector assignments as Team Leader at the NY Counterdrug Task Force – Counter Threat Finance (CTF) Team for the Drug Enforcement Administration’s Financial Investigations Team (DEA-FIT).  He also served within the NY-NJ HIDTA on the NYPD Narcotics Intelligence Unit and was the lead for CTF and Counter Narcotics programs at the National Guard Bureau (NGB).  Mr. Bacon is a seasoned AML/CTF practitioner, curriculum developer, and instructor.

Initial Product Offering

TFA’s first training offering is the “Hybrid Threat Finance” Webinar Series, beginning on Wednesday, October 14, 2020.  This series will provide hands-on learning content and expert financial crimes instructors covering a wide range of Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter Threat Finance (CTF) related subjects.
